This a good workout experience if you are walking instead of biking.
Very enjoyable ride from Whitmore Lake to Pinckney. Some of the nicest scenery in the area. Can’t wait to go again.
Started at Bandamere Park through Ann Arbor to Ypsilanti. The signage through Ann Arbor was terrible especially at major cross roads. More signage and larger than 4x8” (sometimes so faded you couldn’t read them) placards at intersections would make using the trail more enjoyable.
This site says that the trail is 7 miles (one way), but my bike computer said it was only 5+ (one way), so does anybody know?
Anyway, this is a decent trail with some rough pavement near the Kendallville trailhead but is still pretty good.
I went for an amazing bike ride on the Mike Levine Lakelands Trail on August 8th, 2025, starting early in the morning. I parked at the Village Trailhead since the far east end was under construction for a new roundabout. Once I was set up and ready to go, I headed west and rode almost all the way to Pinckney.
The trail is absolutely beautiful — smooth, peaceful, and full of variety. One of the best parts is how it weaves between so many lakes, giving you gorgeous views on either side as you ride. The scenery was incredible that morning, with blue skies and scattered clouds creating a perfect backdrop for the ride.
I can’t wait to come back and explore further west on my next trip. Whether you’re a casual rider or looking to put in some miles, this trail offers a perfect mix of nature, calm, and beauty. Highly recommended!
The trail was amazing. It was very well kept and clean with restrooms available. Most of the trail was fully wooded and all of the trail was hard surface . Highly recommend this trail!!!
A great ride on this beautiful trail. It’s a little tricky in Kalamazoo proper but other than that it’s very scenic, peaceful and well-maintained.
Just an FYI that there is no parking at 84th Street and Patterson. The parking icon on the map is erroneous.
Nice, flat trail. Some parts are under construction/repair. But most is still rideable.
Parked at the Galesburg Augusta Primary school ¿ Meander from school to the trail ¿ Country like setting transitioned to a road-hugging trail¿ Riding alongside car traffic ¿ The trail was pretty smooth and the wildflowers were in bloom.
I enjoy walking and riding my bike on both the paved and unpaved portions of the trail. Great river views with Deer, Fox, Turkey and Eagle among other wildlife. The Williams County Veterans Memorial is a very short distance from the east entrance to the trail on the fairgrounds and well worth the extra ride.
