This is more like an alley between what are not nice areas.. felt unsafe. Plus the pavement is in bad shape
If you start at the southern end near the I-275 rest stop, you can combine this with the Pinellas Trail for a 20+ mile out-back ride to downtown St. Petersburg. Beautiful vistas of bay, Skyway Bridge and downtown St. Petersburg. City needs to improve the signage at key intersections, especially at the intersection of Skyway and Bayway trails.
We road the Clermont to Winter Garden part of the trail. It is one of the most scenic and nicest trails we road in central Florida. Highly recommend it. Start in Clermont, have lunch at the brewery building on the west of Winter Garden and return to Clermont. About 13 miles one way.
This route is probably only about 9.75 miles or a bit longer. I walked it and that's what my Garmin said. Garmin could be off a bit, but probably not by 3/4 of a mile. Anyway, this route could use a few park benches along the way, as the only two places to rest are the two parks on opposite sides of the lake. Parts of this route could be run, but parts have many street crossings and driveways that make running difficult. I would not recommend bike riding along the three miles that front US 27 on the west side (although some ride there). I have walked and run many trails and I rate this one average. I think this route has potential to become a better trail with a bit of work.
This trail is ideal for race training. If you’re looking to put your head down and pound it for 3-4 hours, then this is your place. If you’re looking for some hills and turns, or if you want sights there are better choices. This is very remote with no water options. Bring your own. We’ll go again but I like the Withalacoochee and Marjorie Carr Trails more.
Don’t miss this one. The views are amazing of the water and birds. It can be windy but you’ll fly going the opposite way. We rode from Clearwater Beach and used connecting trails to ride this one. Even if you just ride end to end and back, it’ll be a great ride. The little rises and not steep at all so don’t be worried at all.
Used this trail on our ride from Clearwater Beach to Tampa and back. It’s so great several trails are connected to make such a great route. Highly recommend.
Road from Clearwater Beach to Tampa and back today. This trail is a key piece. Everything was well signed and clear. That made for an enjoyable ride. There are some busy at grade crossing but the crossings at easy with push buttons and crosswalks.
This trail lives up to the hype...Winter Garden is top notch with all types of shops and restaurants...we’ll definitely do this again!
Another great ride on the Pinellas Trail. I love that the detours are well marked. I also like the signs over the trail with the town names. If you make it to St Pete, don’t miss Dr BBQ. It’ll make the trip even better. There are several overpasses this direction so be prepared for a little shifting of gears. ¿ However, they are very short and you get the downhill, although the traffic engineers took the fun out with all the speed bumps.
Nicely maintained, smooth trail through the wilderness area. We started out on the Good neighbor trail and the road north from there on Withlacoochee. Did 35 miles RT Total. Lots of shade and some nice benches or picnic tables. Yes, plan on drinking your own water, so pack accordingly.
