Chippewa Inlet Trail

Handicap Accessible big plus!

April, 2017 by gerstgirl

What is so nice about these trails is you can take a short walk around the lake or head into the woods and make it longer, and I can take my son in his wheel chair and the paths are great. We don't have a lot of places to go that are this nice. I wish there was a web sight that told handicap people about these gems.

Richland B&O Trail

Inline skating

February, 2017 by jim.h1175

I skate the Richland B&O Trail almost every weekend in the summer. It is a great Trail to skate. Its pretty flat the length of the entire trail. I skate the whole length about 4 Times a summer, And have not had any problems. The surface overall is a 7 out of 10 for inline skating and a 10 out of 10 for biking. There are plenty of benches to rest if need be. a couple of spots to use the restroom also. One of the best trails I have been on So far

Slippery Elm Trail

The Montessori school does not allow parking weekdays while school is in session. Drive to wal-Mart to park. Trail is only 1/4 mi from parking lot. Pleasant paved path. Trail ends in North Baltimore and has men's and women's restrooms along with places to sit. Many benches along entire route. Mile markers also.

Great Trail

January, 2017 by mommyoatneal

My son and I use this trail when I come home to see my mom in Ottawa Hills. Perfect for a brisk walk any time of the year. The residents/walkers/joggers/bikers are very courteous of one another. Anyone living along this trail are really blessed to have it.

Towpath Trail

Non-Stop Thoroughfare!

October, 2016 by twotandemfamily

You can ride this trail non-stop for miles and miles with no stop signs. (There are a couple yield signs to warn of a private driveways to property between the old canal and the river.)That was really fun to be able to just keep riding and riding.

The trail is marked every quarter mile, with several places to rest or observe nature on park benches. Map displays are also frequent, with a convenient "you are here" arrow. There are nice restrooms at both ends of the trail, with a latrine in the middle of the trail at Bend View. There is a trail bypass to go around the park building at Bend View, if you don't want to slow down.

The trail was dry and very hard today, and we observed several folks on road bikes with skinny racing tires, although they may have had to use caution over a couple springtime washouts repaired with larger gravel.

Towpath Trail

Make a day of it

October, 2016 by unclewilbert

I've lived in the area for many years but rode the trail for the first time last weekend. I was on a recumbent with fat tires and the conditions were dry. It was wonderful! Only the center section was a little 'rough' - even when muddy, it would be trivial on a mountain bike.

I started at Farnsworth Park and headed south. There are many photo ops and a couple of rest stops with benches and rest rooms along the way. At the southern terminus in Providence Park you can tour the mill or take a ride on a mule-drawn canal boat through one of the original locks on the Miami Erie canal. The trail (unofficially) continues south about a half a mile to Providence dam where there is a shelter house, a playground and, yet another, scenic view. The whole thing is just dripping with history.

If this 18/20 mile round trip is not enough, you can do the 30 mile loop on the fully paved Wabash Cannonball Trail located virtually right around the corner.

University/Parks Trail

A well maintained and safe trail

September, 2016 by purejoyriding

I ride this trail often taking the link to it out of Wildwoods metropark. It is a great trail with nice surroundings despite being in a well populated area. This is a trail that can be enjoyed as a leisurely ride or can be taken at a fair rate of speed and effort to enhance the cardio effect. This trail is a real gem in the Metroparks and University of Toledo fold. Most folks you meet on this trail are friendly and smiling which just makes it more fun to ride.

North Coast Inland Trail (Sandusky and Ottawa Counties)

Very nice, our home trail

September, 2016 by purejoyriding

I often ride this trail from Elmore to Fremont and back. When riding this section i recommend stopping in Lindsey at Sandi's Village Cafe for their great coffee and they have great food and pastry items also. The staff is very small town friendly and will assure your stop is enjoyable. This section of the trail runs through wonderful countryside and deer can often be spotted. I did ride the streets of Fremont once to connect to the Fremont East section but would not do so again as it is a bit too dangerous for me. The trail east from Fremont is also a nice ride and both sections of this trail are generally well maintained. There is a wonderful bike shop in Elmore (Elmore Cycle and Fitness) and the folks are very helpful with any bike or travel issues and are avid bikers themselves. As is often the case on trails there is a nice ice cream shop (I Scream) next door also. A nice safe trail.

Richland B&O Trail

Beautiful Trail

September, 2016 by ddmc13

I drove down from Lake County on Saturday, Sept. 3 & it was well worth the drive! Beautiful scenery, perfect temperature & the trail was in excellent condition. I started in Butler, rode to the end in Mansfield then back. There are many points along the way to stop/join the trail as well as a lot of various crossings (main roads, farm paths, etc.) but they were pretty visible & I found no problems with them interfering in any way. The trail is very flat with a number of straightaways which makes it very easy to see people ahead of you. Many people running, walking & biking the day I was out. Everyone I passed seemed friendly. The biggest impression it had on me was the scenery throughout the ride with open corn fields near Butler & Bellville to the shade of the forest areas. It was absolutely gorgeous & I highly recommend this ride. Stopped in Bellville afterwards just to explore a little & found it to be a very charming little town.

Richland B&O Trail

Fun In and Out of The Sun

August, 2016 by bowinkle_tl

This trail was our maiden voyage from the comfort of our home town Ottawa river walk trail . We read reviews ,,looked at maps,, pondered the experience in our dreams,, and finally turned our dreams into reality on Saturday August 27. Our expectations were high. Starting point at Millsboro Rd., we headed south. There were several people on the trail. Cyclers, Walkers,Joggers, Inline skaters,Moms jogging with their children in giant strollers,,a cornucopia of fitness activity. We were smiles from ear to ear the whole time. we traveled a total distance of 32.5 miles,,( our longest journey to date ). The weather was perfect,, the trail was exceptional. Maintenance was evident and appreciated. We took advantage of the rest benches along the way.( Thank you Mid Ohio). Our experience is to be remembered as a most fun time. We cannot wait to experience the trail as the season changes to fall. Awesome day.
