Great Guernsey Trail

An Awesome Little Trail

February, 2024 by rgombeda_tl

The Great Guernsey Trail is a 7 mile (14 down and back) flat rail-to-trail. The pavement is in really good shape. A few years ago they resurfaced the first mile which did away with the washboarding and cracks. At the Corduroy Rd. trailhead there is paved parking and a portable toilet. There is also an overflow lot where you can park if the paved lot is full. During the summer months a little concession stand is open and they sell water, Gatorade, snacks and such. There is also a skate park, dog park and archery range. As you go down the trail you will come across a sign that points to Coal Ridge Park and Trails. DO NOT miss this beautiful spot. It is an old strip pit that is open for fishing, canoeing, kayaking, trail walking and is kept in really good condition. As you go down the trail there are numerous rest spots, benches, and restrooms. The scenery is great. You will see wetlands, woodlands, grasslands, and a plethora of wildlife.

Great trail for a quick run (8 mile out & back) in Marietta!

Ohio to Erie Trail

We did a 8.45 mi round trip between Harvard Rd and Warren Rd overhead bridge. Being in a wheelchair we had no issues whatsoever with the surface of the trail.

Kokosing Gap Trail

Kokosing Gap Trail

Wow! I decided to go 100 miles out of my way to ride this trail and I'm so glad I did! In my quest to ride my bike in all fifty states, I "settled" on the Kokosing Gap Trail for my Ohio ride. I knew it was highly regarded, but I must say it truly exceeded my expectations! I've ridden on trails all over the United States, and I would put this one in my top ten!

The trail provides so many pleasurable experiences. There are woods that create a canopy over the trail, beautiful river views, cornfields, pastures with cows and horses, historic railroad bridges, wildlife, rolling hills, sculptures, an old-timey train, Kenyon College, and the friendliest trail users I have ever encountered. I did this ride in early October with some of the leaves beginning to change color, but they must be absolutely spectacular in their full autumn peak!

Be sure to allow enough time to travel the entire trail from end to end to enjoy and appreciate the total experience! It's flat enough to do the full round trip.

Kudos to all for the design, development and upkeep of this awesome trail!

Super nice trail to ride on a fall day . Well maintained. The ride from Bowerston to scio is very beautiful any time you ride . Make sure you stop at the dairy bar in the summer and take a trip up to Main Street to the country pub food is great and so is the service

Marietta River Trail

Beautiful!

September, 2023 by peggylwatters

A very beautiful path! The path is along the river with beautiful views of the river, boats and bridges that cross over to West Virginia. Plenty of places to stop and enjoy the view along the way. We got ice cream at a little shop on our way back. It was way out of our way to get to this trail..but definitely worth the trip. ¿¿ (Giving it 4 stars because of the length…but still loved it).

Great Guernsey Trail

short but oh so sweet!

Went to ride some trails in Zanesville and decided to go a little further east and check out this little trail and boy am I glad I did. This is just one sweet little honey of a trail. It may be a little bit short and a little bit lacking in scenery, but it is super well-kept and has easily some of the nicest little rest spots I’ve ever seen off of it. It does follow closely to Route 265 & goes under 70 so you do hear a little bit of traffic but you never see any of it. It’s a wonderful little trail that I will ride again whenever I’m in this area.

Brinkhaven to Glenmont--Delightful

August, 2023 by dougwittig

This week I rode the trail from Brinkhaven to Glenmont. It was as nice a section of the Ohio to Erie as I've done so far. A well maintained trail through forested rolling hills. And, very little poop.
