rock creek rock on

August, 2022 by chadley109_tl

The connection in Rock creek is opened! No detour on county roads. Shady and cool even in August. Coffee shop just opened in Austinburg, along with an ice cream shop and a small convenience store. No parking at 52 st the last mile is more road crossing than trail. Turn around at the Rotary park. Last rest stop is in Austinburg.

Summer Ride 40 Miler

August, 2022 by vicki1960

We parked in Orwell at mile marker 2 and biked North up to Austinburg. There is a store in Austinburg that has snacks and water. Biked back to Orwell then a few miles South to the Trumbull/Ashtabula county line. Total round trip 40 miles. A great ride as always!

Shenango Trail

New Hamburg July, 2022

July, 2022 by vicki1960

Parked at New Hamburg and went South 1.5 miles and turned around for a 3-mile round trip. Trail is cleared of overgrowth and very passable. The creeks and streams which you cross over are dried up due to lack of recent rains. 1/2 mile into the hike there is a bridge washout from prior but able to cross since it's all dried up.

Shenango Trail

Kidds Mill Section, July 2022

July, 2022 by vicki1960

Revisited since Spring and was very happy that the trail was not overgrown and neglected. I know a group takes very good care of this trail and is constantly maintaining. The trails were well kept, nice and wide and passable. We haven't had much rain of significance in a few weeks, maybe a month and the river level was very low and the creeks very low that even have bridges over them. I hiked from Kidds Mill traveling South about 1.5 miles and turned around. That particular day the Shenango River Watchers were having river clean up and had a nice pile of junk they collected, thank you!

Portage Hike and Bike Trail

Be Aware - Access to Portion of Bike Trail NOT Marked

July, 2022 by leanjim2002

We started our ride at 130 Chestnut Hill Drive, Ravenna. We were enjoying it until we found ourselves off the path near Lake Rockwell Road at Towner's Woods Park (2296 Ravenna Road, Franklin Township). We were on a fairly busy and hilly Ravenna Road. After you leave the parking area you need to take a quick left on Ravenna Rd where it shows "bridge closed" with no indication that bikers could cross the bridge over the RR tracks to continue on the Portage trail on the right.

Little Beaver Creek Greenway Trail

Summer 2022 Ride

July, 2022 by vicki1960

Trail is 12.5 miles in length and runs from Lisbon up to Washingtonville. Mile 0 is in Lisbon. There is a gradual incline the first few miles. At mile 10 is Leetonia. About a mile through town and the trail picks up again and goes to Washingtonville. Most of the trail covered/wooded. You will pass some farms and go through farmlands. Always a nice ride on this trail. In Lisbon at the trailhead, there is a new canoe/kayak launch and a few benches and a little park.

Trout Island Trail

Summer 2022 Ride

Always a nice ride on this trail. Though only 2.6 miles in length, it's flat and paved and pretty! Very wooded trail. You will also pass and see the Shenango Dam. Trail runs from Sharpsville out Trout Island and ends just before Shenango Lake.

Summer 2022 Ride

July, 2022 by vicki1960

This trail is always a great trail to ride, well maintained. A variety of wooded areas, commercial areas, residential and some farmlands. Quiet for the most part. A few road crossings. Parking at mile marker 5, Kirk Road offers a picnic shelter, bike rentals and a restrooms. There is also parking at the Canfield Fair area of the trail. Trail is mainly open with a few areas of shade, keep in mind on a hot summer day!
