Rode the Roberts Pass trail in both directions and found it to be a great trail. The tree cover shields from headwinds and midday sun.
Very beautiful trail with alot of trees and a river. Loved the old stone tunnel and old barn. Very nastalgic looking.Well maintained. Appreciate the crew out clearing limbs and debris off trail, when we were out riding. Thanks
First time riding this trail after the connection to the Newell Preserve was completed. Ride spanned Mt Vernon to almost Westerville and back and it is far more enjoyable with less time on roads and more on the trail. Let's get the rest of the OTET finished too!
Ride here several times a year, often the whole trail round trip. Pros: Ride thru a National Park, downtown Chillicothe is a bike friendly area with lots to see eat n drink, trail is in as good of shape as most ohio trails, with a short 20 mile road ride one can take the Jamestown Connector into Xenia the hub of Ohio's bike trail system, maybe the best thing is this trail crowded at all except a few folks in Chillicothe. Cons: trail is in as bad of shape as most Ohio trails,
This could be a great trail. We went north to Fredericksburg from Millersburg. The trail was smooth for the first 5 miles, then got rough. It is shared with horses and had droppings on both sides. There is no restrooms north of Millersburg.
In my opinion, this might weep be one of the top 10, if not top 5 trails in Ohio. Beautiful river crossings, rolling hills and a great mix of shade and sun. Watering and bike maintenance stations await you in Danville, Howard, Gambier, and Mt. Vernon. In addition, the trail itself is very well maintained. Happy trails!
Started in Danville and rode to Gambier. Rode into town (not far from the trail) and had lunch at the Village Inn. Great lunch. Then back to the trail and on to Mount Vernon where we finished. Back to Danville after that. Plenty of restrooms and places to stop and sight see. 30 miles round trip for us. Excellent ride. We are seniors and not seasoned riders. The trail is very flat. Enjoy!
Really liked the trail, it is a little rough in spots, but wasn’t crowded and was a fun off day ride.
This was a great trail. Parking was a little issue on the north end. Next time will park at Heath High School. Loved the peacefulness of the trail, only saw two other people on it today.

My wife and I have ridden some incredibly beautiful trails so I was a bit skeptical reading the reviews claiming how beautiful this trail is. I am now a believer. The scenery is beautiful with the cliffs up the hillsides but the most impressive feature for us was the sheer number of bird species that we saw but alas did not see. I turned on the Merlin Bird App which identified 12-15 species of birds in the morning. We have never been on a trail with this many bird sounds. We will ride this trail often as it is one to ride during the 4 seasons.
