In my opinion, this might weep be one of the top 10, if not top 5 trails in Ohio. Beautiful river crossings, rolling hills and a great mix of shade and sun. Watering and bike maintenance stations await you in Danville, Howard, Gambier, and Mt. Vernon. In addition, the trail itself is very well maintained. Happy trails!
Started in Danville and rode to Gambier. Rode into town (not far from the trail) and had lunch at the Village Inn. Great lunch. Then back to the trail and on to Mount Vernon where we finished. Back to Danville after that. Plenty of restrooms and places to stop and sight see. 30 miles round trip for us. Excellent ride. We are seniors and not seasoned riders. The trail is very flat. Enjoy!
This was a great trail. Parking was a little issue on the north end. Next time will park at Heath High School. Loved the peacefulness of the trail, only saw two other people on it today.
We really enjoyed the ride and scenery. It was fun seeing horse and buggy too.
Austin Mill Brewing Co now open on Paint Creek Trail just north of Frankfort.
My wife and I have ridden some incredibly beautiful trails so I was a bit skeptical reading the reviews claiming how beautiful this trail is. I am now a believer. The scenery is beautiful with the cliffs up the hillsides but the most impressive feature for us was the sheer number of bird species that we saw but alas did not see. I turned on the Merlin Bird App which identified 12-15 species of birds in the morning. We have never been on a trail with this many bird sounds. We will ride this trail often as it is one to ride during the 4 seasons.
We started at Mile Marker .5 in Chillicothe on a delightful ride through South Eastern Ohio. We stopped after 19 miles at Austin next to a new establishment (Austin Mill) selling beverages and food. This trail is fabulous! We were thrilled to see how well the trail is being maintained; finding the trail quite smooth with normal asphalt separations that had been filled. Yes, there are occasional root bumps; nothing to worry about as the tree canopy provides great shade. Yes, there are a couple of places where the big arrows had faded to direct us but trail sense kept us on trail. Thank you to the three Ohio counties teaming up to make/maintain the memorable bike trail.
A wonderful trail that slowly climbs out of Xenia. It begins with a canopy of trees and later turns to fields. An Inn on the trail in Cedarville warmly welcomes cyclists for a rest stop. It saved us from a passing thunderstorm.
Five Stars. We rode 51 miles.
Nice Trail but can't wait for that section to be completed from Glenmont to killbuck. I sure did not enjoy riding on Route 520
The north part of this trail is in a less than stellar part of town
Flat, well maintained, and beautiful trail. You cannot escape tree root heave but these trail caretakers did well in that most of them are ground flattening them some and eliminating the sharpness. It also helps you see them coming.
