Mohican Valley Trail

Enjoyable Trail

October, 2020 by vicki1960

End of September 2020 we rode this trail coming from Danville. It is all downhill from Danville to Brinkhaven. So we pedaled back up to Danville. Trail is mostly shaded and solid tar and chip seemed to be very smooth. We accessed this trail off Kokosing Gap in Danville. If you stay on the trail though the Bridge of Dreams covered bridge, you can connect onto the Holmes County trail for an additional 7 miles.

Holmes County Trail

Two Rides, Ride #2 on detached section

October, 2020 by vicki1960

Ride #2 we biked from Glenmont to Brinkhaven where the Mohican Valley Trail connects at the Knox County line. This 7.3 miles section is literally uphill both ways. Parked in Glenmont and pedaled uphill for 3.5 miles to the highest point at Holmes County road 75. Towards to crest I actually got off and pushed. At the top there is a mile marker 3.5 off to the side of the trail. Possibly need to add elevation to that marker! Crossing over County Road 75 it's a downhill coast to the Knox County line at Brinkhaven where the Mohican Valley trail connects. Turn around and do it all over again...uphill to County Road 75 then downhill coast back into Glenmont.
Trail is asphalt paved having been constructed in 2017. There is a separate lane for horses and bikes. This detached section of the trail is approx 8 road miles to the mainline in Killbuck.

Holmes County Trail

Two Rides, Ride #1 on Mainline

October, 2020 by vicki1960

We biked on the 15.3 mile mainline which runs from Fredericksburg to Killbuck. Trail is flat at fast. You can really clip along. Miles are marked in white paint along the trail. Goes through wooded sections and open farmland sections. Two lanes, one for bikes and one for horses. But it doesn't appear the horses follow the signs because there were several piles of manure on the bike lanes. You will pass through the outskirts of Millersburg which has places to eat and stores. Fredericksburg end of the trail there is a pizza shop. Nothing in Killbuck except a Dollar Store a mile off the trail which wasn't bad to bike to it. There are a few parking lots along the trail. We stayed between Millersburg and Berlin. We also rode the detached section of the trail. See separate review.

Conotton Creek Trail

Family ride

October, 2020 by b_elsass1984

My family and I rode the Jewett to Scio portion of the trail. It was a very nice trial. 7 year old daughter enjoyed. Very scenic, flat and peaceful.

Nice, flat and scenic trail

September, 2020 by bpatch

We completed another 10 miles of this trail. Beautiful day! This time we started at the trailhead in Orwell. Love this trail. Very well maintained throughout. Mostly flat, however, this is one of those trails that you will pedal no matter which direction you head but nothing intense. Just a great ride.

MetroParks Bikeway

Almost a 5

September, 2020 by gleesue

Nice trail that we will ride again. Couldn't quite give a 5 though. The cracks in the asphalt are in need of repair and a bit annoying. Also, a few too many road crossings than I would like. One other thing that would be nice to see is some picnic tables for resting along the way. The only nice rest area is at the bike shop at Kirk Road.

Bike and Hike Trail

Trail has grade to it and is not flat

September, 2020 by vicki1960

This trail is not completely flat. It has some grade and hills at the road crossings and also there are many flat sections.
We parked at Boston Mills and biked to the Bedford Reservation and back. Enjoyable ride. We stopped at Brandywine falls. Make sure you have water because the only place to get it is near Brandywine Falls at Brandywine Falls Oasis cart set up in someones front yard that is self serve. It sure does come in handy, bring one dollar bills!

Bedford Reservation All Purpose Trail

Hilly and wooded

September, 2020 by vicki1960

We came onto this trail at Alexander Road from the Bike & Hike trail. This trail goes through the wooded area of the Reservation. Some sections are also on the road or next to the road. It is very hilly in some sections. We passed Bridal Veil falls but did not stop. We biked about 5 miles and turned around and headed back to Bike & Hike trail. There are no nearby trail services. Make sure you have water.

Maple Highlands Trail

Worth the drive

September, 2020 by timmy0728

While working in Mentor, found this trail thanks to TrailLink
Took about 1/2 hour to get to but worth it.
Parked at the Tara Creek Parkway. Ran north towards Chardon. Ran 3.5 up, then ran back down to Middlefield.
Trail is very nice.
Paved. Level. Only a couple small grade hills, mostly while going over the covered bridges, which are great.
The trail is marked every half mile on the benches along the trail.
Mostly wooded/shade. Mostly bikers on trail and everyone of them notified me that they were passing. Everyone!
If in the area, and looking to get a couple miles in, head down here.
Enjoy seeing all the Amish buggies and the trail as well.

There’s a few hills but not too bad! Really flat and smooth.
