Little Beaver Creek Greenway Trail

good choice for hot day

July, 2025 by dianefarmstronger

Aside from there not being a place to grab a bite close by in Washingtonville (ended up at Fat Ted’s which closes at 2) this was a good choice for a high 80s day. Lots of shade and beautiful. Could use better trail markings in Leetonia where we needed help finding the trail.

Trout Island Trail

A lot of mosquitoes and gnats.

We went for a quick family ride with grandkids last night. The trail had a large amount of tall grass on it that had mowed onto the path. The bugs were bad.

Trail closed north of Templeton

July, 2025 by tedb

Surprised to find the closure over the Mahoning Creek just north of Templeton. Looks like it has been that way for a while despite a recent review not mentioning it. No detour posted.

Great Allegheny Passage

Riding on this was a bucket list trail. Had hoped to ride further on it but had time restraints. Great trail. The rest stop in Meyersdale is wonderful. Plan someday to return and ride more of it.

Butler-Freeport Community Trail

good trail

June, 2025 by ecd4105

Rode this trail over two days and found it to be pleasant and well maintained. There is not a lot of supply options along the trail so bring what you need. Uphill from Freeport to Cabot and downhill into Butler. The last mile or so into Butler could use some attention. I would recommend this trail.

June 2025, nice trail, not much shade

June, 2025 by vicki1960

We traveled 100 miles to this trail and really not impressed at all. Reading from the other reviews I maybe expected more. Though it is a nice scenic trail, there are a lot of trails out there that are nicer and more scenic. There really isn't much to see. We parked at M/M 6 in Scio. Traveled east to Jewett at mile marker 11. One covered bridge, zero shade on this section. It was a hot sunny day. Too hot, too sunny. Not much in Jewett. The trail grass was well taken of, recently cut and there are trash cans along which appeared to be regularly emptied. Coming back into Scio we refilled our water bottles and headed the other direction, West to Bowerston. A few more covered bridges and maybe 5% shade cover. Not much to see along this section either. There was quite a bit of noise coming from some industrial sites just off the trail. I think there are some well traveled roads near the trail and not many trees to muffle the sound. Checked this one off the list, worth riding once but not a do-over.

Awesome trail

Rode from East Brady to Kittanning. Very nice trail, well marked and extremely well maintained. It was worth the 2.5 hour drive to ride it.

May, 2025 Ride

Beautiful Spring day for a ride. Got through that rough Winter and mostly rainy Spring now time to enjoy the trail. Parked at the North Bloomfield trailhead on Route 87. Headed south for about 10 miles and turned around then North to Orwell and back. Enjoyable trail and ride!

Coffee

June, 2025 by dkurta1234

This is the second time riding the WRG.We started at The Rock Creek Falls Trailhead. Still like because of the wide trail. We also found when you get to the Austinburg Trail Head that about 500 feet west of it is a great coffee shop. They roast their own coffee and have fresh baked pastries. A small coffee and tea and 2 banana bread with chocolate was around $10.00. We like to support local businesses along trails if we can. Safe travels.

Coffee

We have ridden the trail a couple of times this year. We started at Rock Creek Trailhead and rode to Ashtabula. Nice wide trail. A few bumps but that is to be expected. When you get to Austinburg there is a Coffee shop there that is a good place to get some coffee and a pastry. I believe it’s Station Coffee and Pastry. Coffee beans are roasted on site and fresh baked pastry. We had the banana bread with chocolate chips. Small coffee and a tea and two slices banana bread was around $10.00. We love riding trails where you can stop and try some local shops.
