Bike and Hike Trail

Trail has grade to it and is not flat

September, 2020 by vicki1960

This trail is not completely flat. It has some grade and hills at the road crossings and also there are many flat sections.
We parked at Boston Mills and biked to the Bedford Reservation and back. Enjoyable ride. We stopped at Brandywine falls. Make sure you have water because the only place to get it is near Brandywine Falls at Brandywine Falls Oasis cart set up in someones front yard that is self serve. It sure does come in handy, bring one dollar bills!

Bedford Reservation All Purpose Trail

Hilly and wooded

September, 2020 by vicki1960

We came onto this trail at Alexander Road from the Bike & Hike trail. This trail goes through the wooded area of the Reservation. Some sections are also on the road or next to the road. It is very hilly in some sections. We passed Bridal Veil falls but did not stop. We biked about 5 miles and turned around and headed back to Bike & Hike trail. There are no nearby trail services. Make sure you have water.

There’s a few hills but not too bad! Really flat and smooth.

Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail

Biked the complete trail

September, 2020 by djchippi

I started this trail at the cleveland trailhead using my triathlon bike. The goal was to complete the entire trail ending at the Bolivar trailhead. According to my bike computer the trip was 102 miles. 7.5 hours of scenic biking. I am in love with this trail. There are so many sights to see. Most of the trail is conducive to thin wall tires. The only area that is a bit rocky is the last 5-9 miles in Canton right at the end of the trail. Much of the trail is paved or crushed limestone on top of hard pan soil. My thin walled tires did not have many issues. Great sights along the River including waterfalls, rapids, turtles and deer. I recommend this trail to any biker looking for a ride where most of the time the sun is blocked by the trees. Several places along the way to fuel up or purchase drinks.

Rocky River Reservation All Purpose Trail

Great for inline skating/Nordic Blading

Picturesque, smooth paving, gorgeous particularly in the early morning. I generally do about 4 miles in and 4 back and it’s fairly level so no huge hills to climb.

Bike and Hike Trail

Conquered the Hike and Bike Trail.

August, 2020 by jmkml

We parked at Stow High School and went north to the end at Alexander Rd (18 miles) we turned back and felt good, so we decided to turn towards Munroe Falls and complete the southern loop. Big mistake! If I knew the number of hills involved, I would have done that section first, once out of Silver Springs, the road signs were lacking. I felt as though I was off of the trail most of that part, especially after we passed the 34th mile. The map and description need to be revised to reflect the correct distance and perhaps more prominent signs (a tree covered one sign).

County Line Trail (OH)

nice Trail

Very nice trail. Low traffic. Crossed a couple of roads, but very few cars. One section is shared with cars, but still not an issue. Families and a few walkers. Country biking.

Ohio to Erie Trail

Another good TrailLink suggestion

August, 2020 by timmy0728

I parked at the Wilbeth Road lot, and from the suggestion of a local, turned left, towards the 40.4 mile marker.
First mile or so is paved, then turns into small crushed stone. A level and flat trail. A couple small inclines by the underpasses. The bridges that pass over the canalway are in excellent condition and give even more variety to run/bike on.
A little bit of trash along the sides for the first mile or so, but once I got up to the next parking lot, and onwards, the trail is excellent.
The trail is marked every mile, definitely a plus as well.
This trail really deserves a 4.5, and if I had started at the next parking lot and missed the trash, it would deserve a 5.
So, as always, if in the area and want to get a couple miles in, head here.
You should also enjoy your run or bike.

Garfield Park Reservation All Purpose Trail

Small but nice

This is not really for people used to larger parks. It is nice, but more for locals than people traveling just for this.

Freedom Trail (OH)

Great trail

August, 2020 by yob_eidde_tl

This is a favorite route for my wife and I when we want an easy ride, especially if we bring along friends that do not do a lot of riding.

Because of all the streets the trail crosses, it presents a GREAT opportunity to teach & reinforce how to avoid dangers when crossing streets (almost every ride has me holding up our riding group as a vehicle runs a light/stop-sign/crosswalk, or turns right while driver is looking left).

A treat is to stop at El Tren Grill for lunch (access from trail, outdoor seating; restaurant with caboose & Pullman car). Just about 3.5 miles from trailhead makes for an easy ride back (which is good; they serve lots with each order).

We look forward to Phase 3 being completed into downtown Akron.
