Nice easy path. There was one tree down that was easy to get around. We did our route on horse back.
I tried to ride from New Bremen to St. Mary’s. I read some reviews, but it wasn’t clear. I also talked via phone to someone who lives in New Bremen and he encouraged me to take the path. Well, 1 mile north of town it was just tall thick grass. Had to do a detour on busy roads
It was shady, somewhat protected from the wind, well maintained. Just a good, basic rail-trail.
We attempted to ride this trail in two different towns. The trail has not been kept up. Some areas had Thick Loose gravel and other areas it was a grassy field with no path. We couldn’t ride it. No stars can be given!
great place to walk w/shaded walkways. just wish there were more parking areas to pick the trail up from different locations of trail.
It's a nice, quiet, and hidden in between housing associations and business parks. Very relaxing beautiful trail. Lots of resting areas but no restrooms or portable restrooms except for one at Ludwig and SmithFieldairport.
Really enjoyed the variety of scenery as well as different riding types along this trail, overall it was in pretty good condition! Will definitely ride this again!
We are both new to this app and some of the trail riding. We both really enjoyed this trail as a nice mixture of scenery and riding types. Trail could use some minor maintenance.
Rode 16 miles of this trail. My only suggestion would be to add more signs so first timers like me don’t get lost.
I had difficulty finding a parking area near Delphos - mainly because there is no trail head there. I found a nice park in Spencerville next to the trail, but was disappointed that the trail end shortly south of there. You would need to follow roads to complete 40 miles. Spencerville to Delphos was a nice flat crushed stone trail, but ended abruptly at someone’s back yard. As another review mentioned - a diamond in the rough, will be a great trail as more miles are finished.
The path is very nice! We found a nice parking lot/rest area on Zion church road. The path is kept up nicely and shaded most of the way with a tree line. One side is the canal/tree line and the other side is fenced nicely. The way the trees face it would block morning sun. We walked around 7pm. It took about an hour to walk for 4.5-5mile walk into Delphos. Be aware it does abruptly end and turn into grass by a trailer park, but it is easy to get to the road from there.
This was a pleasant trail through the woods and meadow. The surface is mainly wood chips, dirt and grass, which would be more suitable for wider tires, rather than a road bike with skinny tires. I used a touring bike with 28 mm tires and didn't have a problem. It might be harder if the trail was wet. Just depends on how comfortable you are on those types of trails. Definitely a good trail to hike. I biked a few of the loops and did 3 miles total, which didn't take that long. I did not go in the Discovery Center since it was closed at the time.
