Great day for a ride. This was a nice family ride with 9 year old. Beautiful farm fields, bird activity. Some shade, too (around 2pm)! Not crowded at all! (7/13/2025). We’ll be back!
Completed the newer section on July 9, 2025 and was disappointed, I was fortunate to find thanks to an out of state visitor parking at trail. Was peaceful and when the leaves change would be more scenic.
Very nice trail, hilly and punchy. You will get a workout. Well maintained, recent fresh asphalt. Almost entirely in the shade on a hot June morning. Meets up with the hike and bike trail at the lower end.
Mostly flat, very light inclines at times, sunny and shade areas. Trail does break and jag near railroad crossing roughly 1/2 way through. Beautiful farmland and woodland areas, raspberries and elderberries alongside trail. Hardly any trail traffic...my friend and I rode side by side majority of trail. Not much to do or see in Rittman or Creston, but occasional bar or tiny restaurant if you need refreshment at either end of trail. I parked nearby Creston police station and was welcomed by a friendly officer. If you want to experience the country and small town bliss, this is the trail.
This trail is still in phase two of a three phase project which won’t finish until 2026. The New London and Greenwich ends are finished and nice crushed cinder but the middle between Greenwich is very rough. Fencing has been put up in some areas, a bench or two but it has shade and some nice farm, wooded views. There are restaurants and small shops at both ends of the trail. It will be great once complete!
A mix of cinder(about 2 miles in New London) and large stone and rough terrain the rest of the trail made for a rough, uncomfortable and tricky ride. The nice mix of sun and shade along the entire trail was a positive. Not recommended.
I ride this trail frequently. It is beautiful, clean and well kept. I highly recommend it.
I have to say a big THANK YOU to the Portage County Parks District for repairing a good portion of the sections of the trail. So much smoother. Keep up the good work.
Started in Lisbon and rode north to the northern end of the trail. A good portion is shaded. Entire trail is in great shape. Trail signs in Leetonia are missing. When riding north through Leetonia, stay on Main St., which turns into Cherry Valley Rd, then right onto East High Street, which connects with the last few miles of the trail.
We biked the trails yesterday from Fredericksburg to Millersburg, we bike the trails a lot and we love it. My only concern is the stretch of trail between Fredericksburg and Holmesville is getting so rough and there are cracks in the center of the trail that you can get your bike wheel in, that it's getting a little dangerous. I'm hoping it will get repaved soon.
First time on this trail. Started off at the North Lake park. The covered trail with the tree canopy was a little chilly. But the views were amazing. Traffic was very light. The path is well maintained. This is one of my favorite thus far.
