We parked at Kirk Road and biked to the Mahoning/Trumbull County line and picked up the Niles Bikeway into Niles for additional miles. MetroParks Bikeway has been repaved within the past few years, surface good. Not a whole lot of shade though. There is a bike rental at the Kirk Road trailhead. Also sells bottled water. We headed towards Canfield on the trail in the opposite direction. Great trail!
We biked on this trail coming seamlessly off the Metro Parks trail. This trail begins at Countyline....the Mahoning and Trumbull County lines. Trail is asphalt paved in good condition. One busy road crossing just below Meander Reservoir. At the Niles trailhead the trail extends 2/10 of a mile over at least one bridge. Eventually it will connect with the Western Reserve Trail in Warren.
This "trail" is made up of many smaller trails and some of it is on roads. Do as much research on this as you can before your trip!
Nice community trail that links to a beautiful park for kids. Nice ride if you’re in the neighborhood.
Hats off to Portage County for repaving last year and redoing the RR crossing near Ravenna. Whether it was the RR or the County you did a fantastic job on a hazardous crossing. Very nice trail. Hopefully it gets extended east
This is a nice short trail that is flat and uncrowded, with nice views of farmland. It’s paved except for about a mile long road section that’s fresh, chunky gravel, chip and seal. I walked it with my thin tires, but wider tires would do just fine.
This trail is wider, better kept condition than adjacent Ohio to Erie trail, probably can be muddy during wet weather I enjoyed the ride, well marked!
We rode from Warren trailhead on the Southern end to North Bloomfield and back (about 28 miles round trip). It’s kind of a boring trail, mostly woods on each side with not many views. There are HORRENDOUS bumps on a stretch just north of Rt. 88. 17 huge “speed bumps” in a half mile stretch that are marked with red and yellow paint. Needs fixed badly. We will most likely not ride this section of the trail again. Will attempt the northern end from Orwell to see if it’s any better.
Parked at Swine Creek. Traveled up to Middlefield, where we picked up the trail. Went north to Chardon. Turned west down to Spinners Diner for lunch and biked back. On the way up, there was a small tree across the trail. By the time we got back, it was cleared. Hit two Amish Markets in Middlefield for some baked goods. After, we went south to Garrett’s Mill and Brewing in Garrettsville, OH for a pint. Great day trip!!
Location for parking says 136 E Bagley but should be 136 West Bagley.
Rode the trail today (6/7/26) from Middlefield to Chardon. We saw 5 snapping turtles on the trail! Great day.
