Delta de Anza Regional Trail

be careful of motorbikes (antioch)

March, 2018 by strohljared

BE CAREFUL on the part of the trail that connects Antioch to Oakley. There are guys riding motorbikes on the trail sometime. They usually stick to the hills but will come down to the trail. There are some incredibly blind turns and these guys are driving really fast. They WILL hurt someone or themselves one day.

I don't really enjoy this trail. I only use it for my convenience. In fact, I use this trail to get to the Marsh Creek Trail, which is awesome!

Folsom South Canal Recreation Trail

Smooth and remote

March, 2018 by jamessink

If you are looking for a smooth ride without a lot of traffic, this is your trail. The first half near lake Natoma has been freshly repaved and is billiard table smooth. The two street crossings have signals but other than those, it's a great path for fast riding.

Folsom South Canal Recreation Trail

Very level ride.

December, 2017 by johnd01

I ride form the North end of the trail. Most riders do not go south of CA16, Jackson Rd. The channel is cut to a very flat slope, and the train follows that slope almost all the way to CA16.
There are sections below grade where the sun and wind do not go in late afternoon. If you are looking for a place to practice your speed riding this is one of the best. It is a great tie-in with CA16 which has wide bike lanes for all but a short section at Rancho Murieta to CA49.
Ride 10.5 miles from Nimbus Fish Hatchery to Ca 16. Take Ca16 East to Plymouth for an extra 25 miles
Back to the South end of Folsom South Canal. At times there is water in a ditch you can ride through just South of Ca16, You need to lime over or under the gate at Sloughhouse Rd. There is more water to cycle through where the canal goes under Dear Creek, but when you get to where the channel goes under the Consumes River, you may have to swim. The river is about 120 feet wide, and the canal is underground for approximately 700 feet. There are about 450 feet of field between the river and the next section of the channel.
You should be able to go East on Ca16 for 4.5 miles, turn South on Dillard Rd for 3.8 miles and pick up the canal again but you cannot quite get to Twin Cities Rd.

Alameda Creek Regional Trail

biked 23 miles

August, 2017 by raj_tiru

This is a well maintained trail, great for biking and running. Although the mile points are not that clear on the trail, a gps device can give you good estimation of the distance. You will see lots of birds, and probably other wild life.

Iron Horse Regional Trail

One of the Bay Area's Best

July, 2017 by mhdlfa1

Great trail for training long distance riding. Would take BART from SF to Dublin and start my trail ride there up to the end in Concord near Martinez. My round trip on this trail included stops for food in the very accessible markets and restaurants along the route. Riding through different towns makes the ride more interesting and gives a cyclist the feeling of safety. Well planned trail. Wish it would extend in either direction.

Dry Creek Trail (Modesto)

Nice, flat, pretty trail

May, 2017 by bobdudeeb

Had a nice relaxing ride along the trail in May. Weather was sunny but pleasant. The trail description is accurate: the trail follows Dry Creek, which had water after the Winter's heavy rains. The trail passes through several parks, as well as oak trees and grassland. We saw several people walking and biking on the trail, but it was not nearly as crowded as the Crystal Springs Trail. Recommended for Spring and Fall and possibly Winter, if it's not raining. Can be very hot in the Summer.

Alameda Creek Regional Trail

Ideal for children

Six Mike round trip on North shore of the creek was a perfect experience with my 9 year old daughter. Flat, no traffic, lots of birds, and a picnic table at the end of the road.

Dry Creek Trail (Modesto)

bike ride

May, 2017 by ghorney33

Nice calm cool day for a ride this morning, a few dips and curves beautiful scenery that was mountain and a meadow like. Good for my son and I to try out as we are both not used to long rides yet but hope to continue to learn and gather more experience while enjoying some nature.

Coyote Creek Trail (San Jose)

Coyote Creek - Safety

April, 2017 by ravigai

I have been using the trail between Heller Park to Anderson lake for a few years now. This stretch (15 miles of it) is very safe, you can see families biking/running/walking. Trail is shaded and beautiful, you can spot deer regularly. With Coyote creek itself flowing with with lots of water - the trails is amazingly beautiful.
