New London-Greenwich Rail Trail

Rough Ride

June, 2025 by christine_bopp

A mix of cinder(about 2 miles in New London) and large stone and rough terrain the rest of the trail made for a rough, uncomfortable and tricky ride. The nice mix of sun and shade along the entire trail was a positive. Not recommended.

beautiful! great for road bike

June, 2025 by wilsonae

Wish I’d had time to ride more of the trail. Excellent condition (mostly) and not too many people on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon. Got on in Lindsey at the park and headed west all the way out to the end and back. Lots of little rest areas and bike pumps, restrooms at Lindsey and beautiful views, plus lots of shade for the hot days. Only saw one other road bike. Note: turn right to cross under the interstate when heading west. Trail continues immediately after going under bridge (to your left) but is not currently marked. Brand new pavement.

Richland B&O Trail

great views

First time on this trail. Started off at the North Lake park. The covered trail with the tree canopy was a little chilly. But the views were amazing. Traffic was very light. The path is well maintained. This is one of my favorite thus far.

Slippery Elm Trail

Accessible and smooth

April, 2025 by normr

While in Bowling Green for an event, my wife and I rode 14 miles on this nice smooth trail. We initially planed on starting at the Montessori school, but despite it being Good Friday, school was in session and parking there was prohibited. We then drove the short distance to The Black Swamp Preserve trailhead and were rewarded with clean, modern bathrooms and a short connecting trail lined with tree swallows and bluebirds perched on their houses.
We rode south 7 miles into a strong headwind but mostly sheltered somewhat by the trees and bushes along the trail. At 7 miles the trail opened up for the foreseeable distance and this old guy decided we would turn back. The ride north was a "breeze". :-)
I would not call this the most scenic trail, but it is very well maintained with good facilities every few miles.
If you are looking for a relaxing enjoyable ride, you will not be disappointed

Chippewa Inlet Trail

Great Trail!

Took the kids for a bike ride on this trail! It wasn’t over crowded. Beautiful scenery too! Enjoyed stopping at the parks along the way for the kids to play at.

Nothing to see here but a river and a tree farm. Trail is very rough and uneven.

Richland B&O Trail

Beautiful ride

October, 2024 by lstrohmie

Not sure what the September reviews are talking about. Rode this trail today from route 97 to Mansfield and back, for 21 miles. We had no scary issues. A few bumps. Awesome crisp fall day. The fences were in place to protect from going into a deep ravines. We would ride this trail again. Not on a Sunday because the nearby Der Dutchman restaurant was closed. ¿

Great trail

October, 2024 by tyoakum

Started at the beginning of the trail in Bellevue and rode to the end in Genoa. Round trip was 68.5 miles, so each way about 34 miles. This is a great trail - flat and smooth, with minimal uprooting. Two things to mention: 1. There are several road crossings, and 2. Have to ride on streets in one of the passing towns (route signs are visible, though).

Richland B&O Trail

Sorry but taking this off my favorites

September, 2024 by jjarrell1

We started off at the trail head in Mansfield. Was not going to park my car in that neighborhood. Ended up driving to Butler and working our way back. Was kinda cool in the start seeing some crop dusters type planes getting ready to take off. Trail was in decent shape, had dog in trailer and was hoping for some water to let her swim, was 85 degrees. There was a blue bridge, maybe Belleville but the little park we could have stopped at said Private Property so we tracked on. We ended up going the whole trail and when we arrived back close to Mansfield we decided to turn around when I started seeing barbed wire on fence. It was pretty open in many areas and very hot. Some cool looking buildings but some really dangerous intersections and 90% of drivers will not stop for you. No intention return to this trail but can say we completed.

Richland B&O Trail

Beautiful but Dangerous

September, 2024 by eagle0086

We rode the trail from Butler to the trails end in Mansfield (slightly uphill). Shady for the most part…, with a blend of countryside to Urban all along the way. There were several places along the way to stop and take breaks (if needed). There are numerous places where the road crossings were dangerous, due to the volume of traffic.

We rode the whole trail, and it was nicely groomed.Wonderful rest areas, and restrooms. Beautiful scenery, and a few shady areas. Thank you for all the work that everyone does to keep this trail looking good. No litter anywhere.

Worth Driving To from Indiana

August, 2024 by ebhostetler

We love this trail for all the reasons the other reviewers mentioned. If you start in Bowling Green, put Rosenbloom Cylinders in your gps. The bike parking lot is on S Maple Street behind the factory. Flush toilets. All close to smoothies on Wooster St. when you finish. Worth the drive.
