This trail is paved and encircles Lake Wilhelm within the Maurice K. Goddard State Park. Rolling Pennsylvania terrain and plentiful shade makes this trail great fun in the hot Summer months. Stay for the day at this park and enjoy boating and kayaking, fishing, picnic areas and a children's playground. The new Marina/Snack Shop is opened having been rebuilt 2024/2025.
We accessed this trail at Middlebury Road in Kent at the new trailhead. We also rode the Freedom Trail. Newly constructed shared parking lot on Middlebury Road for both trails. We took the new pedestrian bridge and switchbacks to connect the two trails. 1324 Middlebury Road GPS addr.
This trail is nicely paved and scenic.
Continued rainy and hot weather has impeded some maintenance on the trail; although it is completely open for travel. Brush clearing will resume as conditions improve. Trail
Trail is completely open from Big Bend to Kidds Mill Park. Tow Path on the southern leg is clear. The Fishing Loop in the north is also clear; creating a 1.8+- loop Trail back to Kidds Mill trailhead. The
Great new connection to Portage Hike & Bike Trail. We parked at the new trailhead on Middlebury and biked West to Lions Park and back. Most of the trail is shaded. We went the other direction out of the parking lot and took the newly installed pedestrian/bike bridge and used the switchbacks down to the Portage Hike & Bike trail into Kent. Great trail, the bridge is awesome!
The west end of the Portage trail now connects to the Freedom Trail by a cascading path and a bridge.
The north end now connects to the Portage Bike & Hike trail. They added a bridge and a cascading trail. The south end is under construction and will eventually connect to the Ohio & Erie Trail in Akron, they did add an access trail to a road and you could connect the Ohio & Erie trail via this, need a good gps device, the existing trail is in good condition. homeless people
We traveled 90 minutes for a group ride here. It was a warm and sunny summer day, there isn't a whole lot of shade. The entire state park is virtually flat, as is the trail. Newly repaved asphalt within the last year or so. The bike path is approx 13 miles in length. We went extra on the roads to make it 20. We chose to ride on a weekday. Less crowds, not as many on the trail. Since it was so hot, the beaches that were open were crowded! Always an enjoyable ride on this trail, the key word is "weekday"!
Getting out and enjoying this nice newly built paved trail. We parked on Maple at the police station and headed Northwest to Leon road. There isn't much shade, goes through a few small/short wooded areas but mostly farmlands. Came back into Andover and navigated through town to connect to the Southern section. There is no set route through Andover, it's not that big of a town! We connected to Mill Street at the Car Wash on Main Street. Will say we waited at least 5 minutes to get the opportunity to cross with traffic. Hopped back on that trail at Mill St. and continued Southeast to Marvin Road. That section travels through wetlands and again mostly farmlands. Trail services in Andover: Grocery Store, gas stations, pizza shops, sub shop and ice cream stand.
We went for a quick family ride with grandkids last night. The trail had a large amount of tall grass on it that had mowed onto the path. The bugs were bad.
Decent trail in PA. Ohio needs some work. They are replacing the section in lowellville
