Holmes County Trail

Glenmont to Brinkhaven

July, 2026 by vicki1960

We biked from Glenmont to Brinkhaven. Coming out of Glenmont it's a 3 1/2 mile uphill climb to Baddow Pass. Then 4 miles downhill the other side where it levels off before going under Route 62. We stayed on the trail to connect seamlessly to the Mohican Valley Trail. Pan Ohio Hope American Cancer Society was having their annual ride that day and we saw some riders. The trail is in very good paved condition.

Mohican Valley Trail

July 2026 Ride

July, 2026 by vicki1960

We accessed this trail from the Holmes County line. Seamless connection onto the Mohican Valley Trail at the Knox County line in Brinkhaven. Surface is paved in good condition. Trail is shared with Amish horse & buggy's. This is a great connection between the Holmes County Trail and the Kokosing Gap trail in Danville.

Ohio to Erie Trail

Made up of many trails

This "trail" is made up of many smaller trails and some of it is on roads. Do as much research on this as you can before your trip!

Kokosing Gap Trail

7/30/26

July, 2026 by blarnold

Parked in Danville and biked over to Mt Vernon. Had lunch at Southside Diner. Walked up into Mt Vernon and visited some shops. Grand Hotel is beautiful. Trail was paved. Mostly flat. A bit downhill on the return trip. Lots to see and beautiful scenery!

MetroParks Bikeway

Nice community trail

Nice community trail that links to a beautiful park for kids. Nice ride if you’re in the neighborhood.

Kokosing Gap Trail

This is a great trail!

July, 2026 by vicki1960

We travel over 3 hours to get to every year and stay in the area. Trail runs from Mt. Vernon to Danville. Connects to other trails at each end. This trail is paved in good to fair condition. There was a closure on the trail near Kenyan College approx mile marker 4. Word is they are doing repairs before a near future repave. We will see next year when we come back. Most of the trail is well shaded but some of it goes through open farmlands. Take the Mt. Vernon Connector and there are numerous places to eat next to the trail. While in the area visit Berlin Amish Country. All in all this trail is one of our favorites!

Holmes County Trail

They repaired the potholes & ruts but this trail is a very high traffic area.

July, 2026 by vicki1960

Since our last visit in 2022 they recently have repaired the ruts and potholes. Not a complete repave but a good job fixing up the mess. But from Holmesville to Fredericksburg there still are some cracks with grass growing up and a rut down the middle so stay to the side. This trail is a thruway for the locals to get from town to town. Heavy traffic even on a weekday. Didn't see many regular manual pedal bikes or even pedal assist but large class ebikes and scooters and some as large as small motorcycles. They sound like golf carts when passing using their throttles. It's not a very quiet and relaxing trail. The speed limit is supposed to be 20 mph that's a joke because if these "machines" can reach speeds beyond that, then the trail users are gonna use all the power they have. Only saw one Amish horse and buggy. I know they're out there because they already chewed up the new pavement sections that have been recently repaired. Most of the trail is shaded. At the Killbuck end construction workers are working on the trail segment thru town. We biked Fredericksburg to Killbuck and back, 30 mile round trip. Several parking areas along the way.

Portage Hike and Bike Trail

trail maintenance

Hats off to Portage County for repaving last year and redoing the RR crossing near Ravenna. Whether it was the RR or the County you did a fantastic job on a hazardous crossing. Very nice trail. Hopefully it gets extended east

County Line Trail (OH)

Nice Trail

July, 2026 by nozombies4me

This is a nice short trail that is flat and uncrowded, with nice views of farmland. It’s paved except for about a mile long road section that’s fresh, chunky gravel, chip and seal. I walked it with my thin tires, but wider tires would do just fine.

Olde Muskingum Trail

Well Maintained

July, 2026 by davidmaggiehome

This trail is wider, better kept condition than adjacent Ohio to Erie trail, probably can be muddy during wet weather I enjoyed the ride, well marked!

Maple Highlands Trail

June 2026

July, 2026 by blarnold

Parked at Swine Creek. Traveled up to Middlefield, where we picked up the trail. Went north to Chardon. Turned west down to Spinners Diner for lunch and biked back. On the way up, there was a small tree across the trail. By the time we got back, it was cleared. Hit two Amish Markets in Middlefield for some baked goods. After, we went south to Garrett’s Mill and Brewing in Garrettsville, OH for a pint. Great day trip!!
