I've cycled this gorgeous trail 3x, roundtrip in 2018/2019 from Haulover Marina/Beach to South Pointe Pier for a total of about 24 miles. I stumbled on it one Saturday morning in 2018 before construction started on the Miami Beach boardwalk (sad face) in 2020, and fell in love with it. I had no idea I could cycle that far and was blown away by the trail's beauty.
This was an awesome ride. Several people walking, biking and rollerblading. Certain areas were a bit congested but over all had a great ride.
Too many intersections, you ride a mile then need too cross abustle intersection. Construction caused us to stop and restart in another area. Disappointing
Road 23 miles today, path is narrow and intersections are busy but doable. It was a beautiful December day.
I have just returned home after completing the 106 miles from Key Largo to Key West. After reading some of the reviews here I was a bit concerned with making this trip. While I agree that there are a number of surfaces you ride along the way that include sidewalks, trails, and roads, I found all quite manageable and safe. There is debris in spots especially on bridges but nothing more than I find riding my local roads. If you haven’t ridden on busy roads prior this probably is not the trip for you. We woke up early and crossed the Seven Mile Bridge around 7 am on a Friday and traffic wasn’t too bad. There is a big enough shoulder that you can maneuver around debris and still be safe. In the end The trail exceeded my expectations and I look forward to doing this trip again in January.
It was great riding this trail in family. At the end you can find a Publix or a Plaza, and take a break there. Then go back. We park at the point where the App says. We started in the morning, so we lunch subs from Publix at the end of the trail. We saw many iguanas, turtles, ducks, birds, and many others animals. You can take a break any time you want under the trees. Maybe this is not a trail for super riders, but it is nice for a family ride.
Did the entire trail this past Saturday (10/17) and it all went pretty well. Didn’t see much wildlife unfortunately. However do wear long pants and sleeves as the horse fly’s were all over us. Made for some frustration.
This trail has been extended and is now about 15 miles but you'll find me on the first 5 miles of Krome Path. The northern/first 1/3 of the trail is by far the best, (this section gets 5 stars) as you go south theres more and more driveways with rumble strips and street crossings. After a rain storm, lots of sand, gravel and debris can be on the path making it difficult for road bikes or skateboarders like myself. Overall, this is one of the safest places to ride in South Florida and its a great place for serious training. But, it's 30 mins from my apartment and can get quite boring at times.
Completed together with the Black Creek Trail. Very nice and relaxing ride.
Yet I still give the bike friendly sidewalk 3 stars for it connects a great park, neighborhoods, services, groceries, restaurants and a library. The bummer is it does not connect to downtown Miami to further facilitate, nor promote a “one less car” mentality. The neighborhoods that border this bike friendly sidewalk benefit, but if you are not from the area, this “trail” offers very little.
