I’ve ridden it hundreds of times and dropped 20 pounds—got in the best shape of my life right here! 🚴¿¿¿💪
On weekends, you’ll even find more vendors along the way, which adds a fun and vibrant energy to the ride.
Downside? Cars fly by at 55 mph, and I’ve had a few close calls with distracted drivers. One time, a group of teens even shoved a friend into my path—causing a crash that left me cut up and bruised.
But truthfully? The good far outweighs the bad. This trail has brought me physical strength, mental clarity and so many happy memories.
Ride alert. Ride smart. And if you’re looking to better your health—this is one place to start.

Just a big sidewalk without a lot of people. You have to stop at lights and cross very busy streets.
You can take the Hiatus Road Greenway to New River Greenway to Markham Park for a longer ride.
Started out from Hobie. Sound, didn't notice the no electric vehicle signs. 2 miles from South Beach cop on a golf cart kicked us off. We snuck back on and headed back to Hobie Sound.
Beautiful new trail
Anyone, and I mean anyone, who leaves less than 5 stars for this trip is misguided. Granted we are from Orlando FL where we don’t bicycle much bc of the crazy traffic but decided to do Key Largo to Key West. It was AMAZING. Bike paths were fine and yes be careful going over the bridges but many have accessory bridges you can cross. We did it in a week and did tikis and mom n pop hotels and craft breweries. This has been one of our best trips ever. We even took the cat. It was a blast.
Adjacent to the Pompano park tennis and pickleball courts, this loop goes around the golf course, airfield, stables and Goodyear Blimp hanger. Between those things and the birds, it’s pretty varied entertainment with which to make multiple 4-1/2 m loops. The section along Copans Rd should be widened and repaved, and is also the least scenic. Otherwise a very satisfactory local amenity that is popular with locals and tourists alike.
It is 7-8 miles from Fern Forest Park to the western-most Tephford Park. The eastern section from FFP to Pompano, mostly unappealing roadside but slowly getting developed, is another 7.
