I’ve ridden hard-surface bike trails in 15 states and one foreign country. I’ve never experienced one like this before. The switchbacks, twists and turns, and steep inclines make this trail more suitable for mountain bike riders, even though it’s mostly concrete. If you love a physical challenge, this is your trail, but it’s not for families out for a leisurely bike ride or for senior adults like me.
Started on the trail in Farmersville. It's a quaint town with parking right a the trail head. The first couple of miles were well-maintained and paved. Then the trail switched to crushed rock. Still able to cycle but had to watch out for holes in the path and uneven transitions to bridges. Then right where the trail crossed FM2194, the trail turned into two tire ruts just filled with large rocks. Passable by mountain bike but not on my street bike.
I rode the Randy Morris trail in early November 2024. Very enjoyable with one super steep hill but short hill. A short section of trail is gravel and I needed to follow the map when I got into the neighborhood. It was a windy dreary weekday so it wasn’t too crowded. I rate it five stars.
