Caddo Trail

Nice stroll in betwixt greenspace and grand homes

December, 2017 by sjoslin_tl

Easy paved walk with small playground at one end. Filtered light and greenspace amidst tawny homes, and along a stream. A nice escape when short in time.

Watters Branch Trail

East side between McDermott & Bethany now connected!

December, 2017 by ethanja10

I did a test ride last night and can confirm! Awaiting 121 connection with McKinney to continue the north into McKinney. The is an underpass connection on the east side of Exchange (Rowlett Creek Trail) but you'll have to cut across some neighborhoods. I recommend Ridgeview Dr or Comanche Dr.

Old Soncy Trail

Old Soncy Trail

November, 2017 by kelc1d

There was an open area along the trail at 9th Ave and Soncy, so we parked there. My husband and I took our bikes out on this... mine was a road bike and his was a mountain bike. It has some steep inclines/declines, which can be a little scary for someone to go down if they are not used to those. You can run, walk or ride your bike, and you can go alone, take a friend, go with family and/or bring your dog. It is a straightforward trail, so you don't have to worry about getting lost at all. No shade covering. Very pretty if you go at dusk/sunset. Bring bug spray.

Such a great day!! Laura is so easy going (we literally talked on the phone for almost 2 hours during booking)! Her daughter was our guide and was so fun! Getting to see Texas on horseback like that was amazing! So pretty!! Would definitely recommend!!

Chaparral Rail Trail

Rough terrain-not just “crushed rock”

October, 2017 by dustiejobe

I wanted to write to let you know about my experience this weekend. I selected the October Fest Trail Run Marathon about 5 months ago because it was on a Saturday, it was rated a 1 for “non technical terrain that was fast”, the description on the Ultra Expeditions site stated “crushed rock that was an easy out and back course.” This was going to be my 1st marathon at 46 years young. I was so excited! I booked a great room at a local airb&b site and recruited a friend to come and run the half. Everything was great until about mile 7. What I endured the next 7 miles out and 7 miles back was anything but “fast” and “crushed rock”. I literally had to walk most of the 14 miles. I rolled my ankle 10 times while walking. The path contained golf ball size rocks and had several ruts along the way. I shed a few tears out of frustration along the way. This was not how my dream of completing a marathon was supposed to play out. My back was in agonizing pain throughout. Please change your description and please show accurate pics of the boulders along the trail. If I had known the reality of the course I most certainly would not have signed up for the beating my body took. Thank you for your consideration.

Great Trail, BUT...

October, 2017 by aseasyas123

I live in Houston and I've heard a lot of great reviews about this trail. Finally me & my wife drove almost 6 hours round trip and rode this trail on 10/21/2017 and here is my thought about this trail.
1. The length of the trail is great and same as the scenery.
2. The best part of the trail is the boardwalk and the Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge.
3. My wife complains about the why the trail is not paved, it was too dusty.
4. SIGNS! The trail need a lot of signs especially the east end of the lake (Longhorn Dam & Holly St.). We went over to the east side of the S Pleasant Valley Rd. because there was no sigh to give us the right direction and the trail became almost invisible at the baseball field at Riverview St.
5. MAPS! Lacking of the "You Are Here" Maps, we could not get a good idea of which part of the trail we were at.

This could be a 5-star trail if there are enough signs & maps, please improve...

Rio Grande River Trail

Poorly maintained

October, 2017 by jimfinn12

This trail is very poorly maintained. Bushes are over grown, puddles create mud which covers the hard surface in dirt, and and most recently horses have been using the trail and haven't been cleaned up after. I had to ride portions of this trail with my shirt over my nose. I've ridden twice and gotten thorns in my tires both times. This trail probably works for hiking or running but it's a bust for biking because of the maintenance issues.
