October, 2026. The trail connector between Garrett Wonders Trail South Warren and Niles is open as of 10-9-26. 2 new bridges at the Niles end of the trail. Follow the signs through streets of Niles and the trail begins at Warren Avenue and goes for a few miles zig zagging around the Kimberly Clark property. Then connects at Burton Street to the Garrett Wonders Trail. This is a great new connection to the trail!
October, 2026. We specifically went to Niles to ride this trail since the connection to the Western Reserve Greenway officially opened last week. Some nice colors of Fall. At the Niles Trailhead, a new workout fitness station has been installed. From the picnic shelter you can see the newly opened bridge over Robbins Avenue with "Niles" painted on it. This is where the Western Reserve Greenway Trail now ends, in Niles, and seamlessly connects with the Niles Greenway. While in the area we also biked on Metro Parks Greenway and on Western Reserve Trail. Great trail system in this area.
Wow! We had no idea the Ohio to Erie Trail (OTET) would be so memorable. If you’re looking for a multi-day tour with a variety of landscapes, long stretches of trail riding, some great trail towns, urban riding through major cities, and some quiet pedaling through Amish country, then this is a trip for you. The OTET website offers plenty of itinerary options, and the OTET Facebook group has a lot of helpful folks and information. We did an 8 day, credit card tour. We had memorable stays at the London Guest House, the Mount Vernon Inn and the Hotel Millersburg. Our favorite eateries were Red Brick Tavern, Lola’s in Cedarville and Miller’s Creamery in Millersburg. We rate this right behind the GAP on our favorite tours. Highly recommended.
Love using this trail when I wan to ride from Youngstown to Warren. So peaceful, quiet and safe to use.
September, 2026. Nice end of the Summer bike ride. Parked at Oakfield, biked to Orwell for lunch, then a little North and back plus to Bristolville. Most of the trail well shaded and beyond that farmlands. Open areas of the trail very windy. There are some drainage / speed bumps between Oakfield and Bristol heading South.
Nice trail. Mostly shaded. A little narrow for bikes but not bad. Smooth and well maintained. You have to cut through Quail Hollow to get to the other part of the trail.
September, 2026. Labor Day weekend ride. Beautiful holiday weekend out on the trail. Always enjoyable ride on this trail. We rode from end to end and extra. Trail does not go through Andover town but follow the signs and take the streets. There are a few places to eat nearby.
Started at Swine Creek where there’s a smelly pit toilet where you can change lol. Nicely paved and maintained trail, just a few bumps, mostly at the Chardon end. Only water fountains seem to be around Chardon as well, so take plenty with you. Return trip seemed to go a little easier but not much elevation change overall, other than some serious hills (both ways) during the portion paralleling Route 44 near the northern end of the trail. For some reason the trail is not quite as well marked when you’re going south, at least through Middlefield and especially the on-road section back to Swine Creek; didn’t have any problem going north.
Starting at the south end, initially I was disappointed at the lack of any historical signage, these are always a big plus for me; around Chardon however there are quite a few railroad history markers, so that made up for it. And I’m probably an outlier here, but even though the faux covered bridges are cute, it almost seems like the trail designers tried to erase most vestiges of the trail’s railroading past; other than the very informative markers in Chardon, practically no railroading evidence exists, but then I’m a bit of a train nerd. Scenery was very pleasant, with the trail length and nice surface (and lotsa nearby breweries, taverns, and overall quaint towns all over this part of the state), could be considered a destination trail.
We biked from mile 0 at the Trumbull/Ashtabula county line to Austinburg and back. Passed through Orwell and had lunch. Trail very well shaded and in good condition but a few root liftings in the asphalt but not a deal breaker. Enjoyed our stop in Austinburg but saddened to see that Shannon's mini mart is now closed since the owners retired after almost 20 years there.
We travel almost 2 hours to get to this trail and worth the drive. One of Ohio's nicest trails. Asphalt paved in very good condition, pretty scenery, well maintained by Geauga County Parks, numerous benches along the route, grass cut, trash cans emptied and nice restrooms. There are 5 covered bridges along the trail. Most of the trail is full sun so make sure you slather up with sunscreen on a sunny day. We parked at Headwaters Park and biked up to Chardon for lunch and back. Then biked down to Middlefield. Total miles 30 round trip. Was sad to see the fountain at the Middlefield end of the trail was not working and the trellis removed and no hanging flower baskets.
We biked on this trail coming seamlessly off the Metro Parks trail. This trail begins at Countyline....the Mahoning and Trumbull County lines. Trail is asphalt paved in good condition. One busy road crossing just below Meander Reservoir. At the Niles trailhead the trail extends 2/10 of a mile over at least one bridge. Eventually it will connect with the Western Reserve Trail in Warren.
