Very nice ride till you get to Leetonia. Then it's brick roads and up and down street hills, then you're good to go on the other side of town to Washington ville.
Went to ride some trails in Zanesville and decided to go a little further east and check out this little trail and boy am I glad I did. This is just one sweet little honey of a trail. It may be a little bit short and a little bit lacking in scenery, but it is super well-kept and has easily some of the nicest little rest spots I’ve ever seen off of it. It does follow closely to Route 265 & goes under 70 so you do hear a little bit of traffic but you never see any of it. It’s a wonderful little trail that I will ride again whenever I’m in this area.
It is amazing here. I just rode here recently with our horses, and it was so nice! Definitely will come again soon!
Trail is maintained very well on a weekly basis, but… mile 0-5 have deteriorated over the past 3-4 years to where you are in for a very bumpy (and unsafe) ride. Gaps in the asphalt are extremely jarring to both rider and bike and make for an unpleasant ride. Some sections have been filled in, creating just as jarring humps on trail. Some gaps are an accident waiting to happen. Trail has many loyal users who deserve better to happen. Trail has many loyal users whichdeserve
This week I rode the trail from Brinkhaven to Glenmont. It was as nice a section of the Ohio to Erie as I've done so far. A well maintained trail through forested rolling hills. And, very little poop.
Always a great ride on this trail! We drove several hours in the car to spend 3 days in Mt. Vernon for biking. Day 1 we biked from Mt. Vernon to Danville and back, plus a few extra miles, for a 30 mile round trip. Trail offers a lot of shade plus open areas through farmlands. Trail is basically flat though pedaling along did notice some gradual inclines. While we were in the area, Pelotonia Bike Ride Cancer research fundraiser was taking place at Kenyan College and we watched some of the riders. They were using a section of the trail for their ride.
Rode Montour Trail connector to Oakdale - about 10 miles. Trail in great shape. Recommend Hunner's Pizza in Sturgeon and Helicon Brewing in Oakdale - both on the trail. Saw many other places along the trail. Trail well marked. Trail is flat in this section except going up the connector.
Beautiful trail as far as scenery but man is it rough! The bridge transitions are awful & the paved parts are so rough!!
Best kept secret! Smooth, paved, shaded trail that seems to be overlooked by all! Rode from start to end- then back- saw very few riders along the way. A true gem of level trails. Full disclosure…. There is a portion of riding on public streets… and not very challenging as far as inclines go. Overall a very pleasant experience!!
The Heartland trail's pavement currently ends in Marshallville. However, the park district keeps the next 4 miles mowed. You have to go off trail on worn paths to get around gates that are installed to keep vehicles off the trail. The park district plans to have this 4 mile section paved in 2026. It was fun to ride this section. Of course this requires a bike that is able to ride on grass/gravel.
Very well maintained trail. Lovely views of cornfields, beans, and rivers. A nice ride on a relatively flat surface.
