Buck Creek Trail (OH)

Bridge Closed

May, 2025 by vicar.josie

I’ve ridden this trail down to Xenia and back last summer and it was nice for the most part. This year I noticed a bit more unmarked large bumps and aggressive erosion alongside the creek. Currently the bridge to cross Buck Creek is closed and I’ve not come across anything indicating it will be fixed. Although the bridge appeared to be sturdy enough to support a walk, my boyfriend and I found an alternate route by car. Biking on Croft road did not feel safe to me but, other bikers accepted the unmarked detour. untilyou a

Little Miami Scenic Trail

Great trail, signage not awesome

April, 2025 by tod.hanson

Loved the trail - only did Xenia to Yellow Springs and back, in conjunction with one of the connector trails. Signs use trail numbers vs names, which we didn’t realize until we were on trail… Also, not clear signage at key intersections where trails intersect or turn. Won’t be a problem if you’re expecting/prepared for it, but not as clear and user friendly as many other top tier rail trails we’ve ridden.

Slippery Elm Trail

Accessible and smooth

April, 2025 by normr

While in Bowling Green for an event, my wife and I rode 14 miles on this nice smooth trail. We initially planed on starting at the Montessori school, but despite it being Good Friday, school was in session and parking there was prohibited. We then drove the short distance to The Black Swamp Preserve trailhead and were rewarded with clean, modern bathrooms and a short connecting trail lined with tree swallows and bluebirds perched on their houses.
We rode south 7 miles into a strong headwind but mostly sheltered somewhat by the trees and bushes along the trail. At 7 miles the trail opened up for the foreseeable distance and this old guy decided we would turn back. The ride north was a "breeze". :-)
I would not call this the most scenic trail, but it is very well maintained with good facilities every few miles.
If you are looking for a relaxing enjoyable ride, you will not be disappointed

Great American Rail-Trail

Warden to Lind

Ok section, kind of dull. Agriculture & cows. Found a bit of shade by a grain elevator for lunch. Several washouts filled with tumbleweeds as you get closer to Lind.

Great Miami River Trail

My Compliments bill.beue

October, 2024 by bill.beue

How about a round of applause for the cities, counties, employees, and volunteers who put this great trail together. Unlike the LMRT, this trail is not a state park but a series of parks in many jurisdictions. I do not know who coordinates this effort to create the ‘whole’, but good job.

Heart of Ohio Trail

Beautiful trail with lots of different views, wooded to open farmland. Creeks and hills, with alot of fall foliage. We'll maintained, nice trailheads, with restrooms and picnic tables and benches.

Great Miami River Trail

In Piqua, Troy and Dayton, trail is not always marked. You know you're on A trail, but not WHICH trail, or, on on-road sections, it is not clear where the trail goes. In addition, trail surface is quite rough for lengthy distances. Not recommended.

Beautiful Trail

Rode the Roberts Pass trail in both directions and found it to be a great trail. The tree cover shields from headwinds and midday sun.

Little Miami Scenic Trail

We love this whole trail other than Springfield area 5 stars to the other 70 miles of trail!

August, 2024 by cwn86cckz2

We ride this trail very often from Milford to Yellow Springs and love this portion of the Trail. We went North of Yellow Springs for the 1st time back in 2022 heading to Urbana. for the 1st time my husband and I felt unsafe on the trails in Springfield area. We have been on 100's of miles of the trails all over Dayton, Troy, Miamisburg, Piqua, Loveland, Morrow, Beavercreek, Xenia, Cincinnati. I have never feared being on the path with my husband. This was the 1st time we made it a point to turn around before getting to our planned stopping point to be sure we had the energy to keep a steady pace to get back through an area without slowing or stopping. Homeless, graffiti, glass on trail, we love riding but will not go on this portion of trail again. I want to be clear it was only the Springfield area. If going North of Yellow Springs I would stop at I believe it was called Beatty Park, skip Springfield area and hop back on at a different time north of Springfield. I will Note that we never passed any other bike riders in this area in either direction, which we have never encountered being completely alone for a few miles. (I previously posted this some how on a 2nd account i was unaware I had until today.) We have not been back on the trail in that area for the past 2 years, however we were in that area a few weeks ago by car, and the path was not looking any better than we remembered.
