Ashtabula County end to end ride, 53 miles Round Trip

November, 2020 by vicki1960

Rode the entire length of the trail through Ashtabula County to the Trumbull County line. Parked at mile 2 in Orwell and biked 24 miles up to Ashtabula and back and then down to the Ashtabula/Trumbull County line.
Trail is in very good paved condition and cleared of leaves.
Ate lunch at a Mexican restaurant steps away from the trail in Orwell. They are biker friendly. Even offer outdoor seating if you want to keep and eye on your bike.

Fall Ride

November, 2020 by vicki1960

We had a very warm Fall and it was great to get out and enjoy a fall ride. Biked from Countyline (Trumbull and Mahoning Counties) to Western Reserve in Canfield and back for a 25 mile round trip. Nice trail. The newly constructed tunnel under the OH turnpike is open. It's very nicely lit as well.

Loudonville Pedestrian and Bicycle Pathway

Pleasant Trail

November, 2020 by sjf0809

I found this trail to be pleasant. The write up said it was 1.5 miles, but I continued following the asphalt trail and went 2.5 miles between the park in Loudonville and the entrance to Mohican State Park. Nice trail.

Mohican Valley Trail

OK

October, 2020 by wierstheparty

We started in Danville and headed up toward the “Bridge of Dreams”. It was pretty but nothing spectacular. We thought we would just go to the north end and back but once we got through the bridge (full of road apples) it started getting a little more interesting on the Holmes county trail so we continued another 5 miles before returning back. Glad we took a photo op at the bridge. Spent the rest of the day hiking Lyons Falls which was gorgeous.

Headwaters Trail

Nice trail

October, 2020 by bpatch

Very nice trail. 15 miles round trip. We started in Garrettsville and rode toward Mantua. Beautiful, especially in the fall with all the leaves falling. The trail is primarily flat; however, there is the slightest uphill grade going toward Mantua. Parking easy to find and both towns at each end of trail are very quaint. I would definitely recommend this trail to all levels of bike riders, along with families with small kids.

Kokosing Gap Trail

Mount Vernon to Gambier

October, 2020 by vicki1960

Nice bike ride from Mount Vernon to Gambier and back. Great trail though mainly wooded sections. You will cross a few nice old rail bridges on this section. And over the Kokosing River a few times.
We parked at the old train station in Mt Vernon and took the connector which is about a mile long and under construction. They are re-doing it.
We biked to Kenyan College.
Lunch near the trail at an old Diner in Mount Vernon and the food was delicious. After the ride there is an ice cream place a few hundred yards from the trail in Mount Vernon. Between Mount Vernon and Gambier there is nothing so make sure you have water/snacks.
Connecting trail are Heart of Ohio, Mohican Valley and Holmes County. All asphalt paved in great condition.

Great Trail

October, 2020 by eric.janssen.315

We rode 30 miles of this trail in the last month. Trail was awesome. Was surprised that there were NO restroom facilities on the Trumbull County section of the trail. Each trailhead in Ashtabula County had a Port-o-let. I did not like the 16 speed bumps on the trail just south of the Oakfield trailhead. We rode the trail south into Rock Creek, but when we started taking the road section around the missing link, vehicles were speeding past us. We decided to turn around and go back to the north. Overall I give the trail the 5 star rating.

Kokosing Gap Trail

Danville to Gambier

October, 2020 by vicki1960

Danville to Gambier and back for a nice ride. Trail is mainly flat, asphalt paved in good condition. There are a few bridges to cross along the ride also through open farmlands and some wooded areas. Trail services in Danville....food and water. There is a grocery store, sub shop and Dollar Store located near the parking area.

Richland B&O Trail

a lovely autumn ride

October, 2020 by deniseellsworth

Park in Butler and enjoy the fall colors! Clean park restrooms (and ice cream for veterans’ donation) in Bellville. Yes there are a few busy crossings but don’t let that stop you from enjoying this ride. Great coffee and pastries in Mansfield to end the day.

Mohican Valley Trail

Enjoyable Trail

October, 2020 by vicki1960

End of September 2020 we rode this trail coming from Danville. It is all downhill from Danville to Brinkhaven. So we pedaled back up to Danville. Trail is mostly shaded and solid tar and chip seemed to be very smooth. We accessed this trail off Kokosing Gap in Danville. If you stay on the trail though the Bridge of Dreams covered bridge, you can connect onto the Holmes County trail for an additional 7 miles.

Holmes County Trail

Two Rides, Ride #2 on detached section

October, 2020 by vicki1960

Ride #2 we biked from Glenmont to Brinkhaven where the Mohican Valley Trail connects at the Knox County line. This 7.3 miles section is literally uphill both ways. Parked in Glenmont and pedaled uphill for 3.5 miles to the highest point at Holmes County road 75. Towards to crest I actually got off and pushed. At the top there is a mile marker 3.5 off to the side of the trail. Possibly need to add elevation to that marker! Crossing over County Road 75 it's a downhill coast to the Knox County line at Brinkhaven where the Mohican Valley trail connects. Turn around and do it all over again...uphill to County Road 75 then downhill coast back into Glenmont.
Trail is asphalt paved having been constructed in 2017. There is a separate lane for horses and bikes. This detached section of the trail is approx 8 road miles to the mainline in Killbuck.

Holmes County Trail

Two Rides, Ride #1 on Mainline

October, 2020 by vicki1960

We biked on the 15.3 mile mainline which runs from Fredericksburg to Killbuck. Trail is flat at fast. You can really clip along. Miles are marked in white paint along the trail. Goes through wooded sections and open farmland sections. Two lanes, one for bikes and one for horses. But it doesn't appear the horses follow the signs because there were several piles of manure on the bike lanes. You will pass through the outskirts of Millersburg which has places to eat and stores. Fredericksburg end of the trail there is a pizza shop. Nothing in Killbuck except a Dollar Store a mile off the trail which wasn't bad to bike to it. There are a few parking lots along the trail. We stayed between Millersburg and Berlin. We also rode the detached section of the trail. See separate review.
